Each Cisco Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis offers different numbers of card slots and can accommodate a variety of line cards and supervisor engines. Customers can choose 48-port 10/100, 10/100/1000, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) line cards. These cards can be added to the chassis as needed to customize an access, distribution, server aggregation, or commercial core platform. The 24-Gb-per-slot line cards can be used together with the classic 6-Gb-per-slot line cards in any of the Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis. Classic and Catalyst 4500 E-Series line cards may be mixed and matched within a Catalyst 4500 E-Series chassis without any performance degradation.
